# DÜS Eckert

> DÜS Eckert is the leading German language school in Düsseldorf and Essen, Germany. We run BAMF-funded integration courses (Integrationskurse) in both cities and fully online across Germany. We handle the BAMF paperwork — you focus on learning German. A module of 100 lessons costs €0, €229, or €425 depending on your funding; most students qualify for free or reduced pricing.

DÜS Eckert has taught 35,000+ students since 2004 and runs 60+ courses across its two schools. The team speaks 21 languages — German, English, Ukrainian, Arabic, Farsi, and 16 more. Here’s what sets us apart: we handle the BAMF bureaucracy for you — Berechtigungsschein (authorization certificate) applications, Kostenbefreiung (cost-exemption) requests, module registration — so your energy goes to German, not forms.

There are four course types. All end in the same BAMF certificate. One UE (Unterrichtseinheit) is 45 minutes; one module is 100 UE; every course type includes a 100-UE Orientierungskurs (civics). The Allgemeiner Integrationskurs (general) is 700 UE, target level B1, for literate learners — Düsseldorf, Essen, and online. The Geringliteralisiertenkurs (limited literacy) is 1,300 UE, target B1, for learners with interrupted schooling — Düsseldorf and Essen. The Alphabetisierungskurs (literacy) is 1,300 UE, target A2, for learners new to reading and writing in the Latin alphabet — Düsseldorf and Essen. The Online Integrationskurs is 700 UE, target B1, taught in live classes (not recordings) Germany-wide, with the placement test and exams at DÜS or a partner test center. As a rough guide, 700 UE runs about 7 months and 1,300 UE about 13 months.

Every course ends with two exams: the DTZ (Deutsch-Test für Zuwanderer, scaled A2–B1) and the LiD (Leben in Deutschland, 33 civics questions — you pass the LiD with 15 of 33 correct). We also run telc B1 for people who did not take an integration course. Results take 4–6 weeks because BAMF processes them by hand. Pass both exams and you receive three certificates: the DTZ-Zertifikat, the LiD-Zertifikat, and the BAMF Zertifikat Integrationskurs.

Each 100-UE module costs €0 if you’re cost-exempt (Kostenbefreit — on benefits or low income), €229 as the standard Kostenbeitrag (BAMF-funded, not exempt), or €425 as a Selbstzahler (self-payer). Pass both exams within two years and BAMF refunds 50% of your Kostenbeitrag. Spätaussiedler (ethnic-German repatriates) always attend free. Our two schools are a short walk from the main station: Düsseldorf at Immermannstr. 65C, 40210, ~200m (a 3-minute walk) from Hauptbahnhof, and Essen at An der Reichsbank 8, 45127, ~250m (a 4-minute walk) from Hauptbahnhof. Together, the two schools hold 4.9 stars across 1,103+ Google reviews. Office hours: Mon–Wed 08:30–19:00, Thu–Fri 08:30–16:00.

Look elsewhere if you need B1 in under 6 months (our courses run 7–13 months), if you’re already at B2 or above, if you only need business German, or if you want 1-on-1 private tutoring — DÜS runs group courses only.
